‘성인 만들기’와 ‘신성한 여성들’ : 중세 말 근대 초 읍도파의 여성 서사 활용 전략
사보나롤라가 처형된 이후 읍도파는 그를 성인으로 만들고 그에 대한 숭배를 확산시키기 위해 여성 신비주의자를 적극 활용하면서도 이를 통제하고 감독하 는 전략을 취했다. 여성 서사를 활용하는 읍도파의 이중적인 전략은 피에타 보 호소 연대기 내의 알렉산드로 카포키 수사에 대한 상이한 서술에서도 드러난다. 1593년판 연대기는 트렌토 공의회 시기의 보수적인 분위기 속에서 여성의 환시 와 연결되는 것을 꺼리면서 알렉산드로 카포키 수사의 죽음과 그가 남긴 지팡 이에 대한 서술에서 피에타 보호소의 소녀의 존재를 지워버렸다. 반면 1700년 판 연대기와 「피에타 자매들에 대한 단평」은 카포키 수사의 지팡이가 피에타 보호소의 성물이 된 이유를 피암메타라고 하는 여성의 환시와 적극적으로 연결 시켰는데, 대공의 권위에 맞서 피에타 보호소의 소녀들과 자신들의 관계를 다시 연결시키고 강화시키기 위해서였다. 이와 같이 피에타 보호소 연대기 속 알렉산 드로 카포키 수사의 기록에서 나타나는 남성 읍도파 성직자들의 이중적인 서사 방식은 여성 혐오적인 시각 속에서 자신들의 권위를 세우기 위해 어떻게 여성 서사를 활용했는지를 보여준다.
‘Making Saint’ and ‘Saintly Women’ : Savonarolan Strategies for Using Female Narrative in Late Medieval and Early Modern Florence
After the execution of Savonarola, the piagnoni took strategies of actively using prophecies and visions of female mystics to make him a saint and spread his cult, while controlling and supervising them. The piagnoni’s dual strategy for using female narratives could be also seen in the different narratives about Fra Alessandro Capocchi in the Croniche delle Suore della Pietà. The chronicle of 1593 unwrites the vision of a girl of the Conservatorio della Pietà in the record of the death of Fra Capocchi and his stick. It suggests that the chronicler was unwilling to link the female vision to Fra Alessandro Capocchi in the conservative atmosphere of the Council of Trent. On the other hand, the chronicle of 1700 and “Breve notizia d’alcune Suore della Pietà” actively link the vision of Fiammetta, a girl of the Pietà, with the reason that Fra Capocchi’s stick became a relic of Conservatorio della Pietà. It was to reconnect and strengthen the relationship between dominicans and girls of the Pietà. The dual strategy of narrative by male dominican piagnoni shows how they used female narratives to establish their authority in a misogynist perspective.
